Jeremy Pettis' senior thesis was to create typography for 26 animals (scroll sideways to view work). The diversity of letter forms is impressive, he genuinely created a new identity for each animal, and in most cases does an accurate job of depicting the creature through type. My favorites are fruit bat, snail, and wolf. Maybe tiger.
