Illustrator Tutorials
Smashing Magazine has compiled a series of Adobe Illustrator tutorials. If you feel intimidated by Photoshop, Illustrator is a great place to start. It's much more of a "drawing" app and its basic functions are much more intuitive than Photoshop. As they're both Adobe products, if you can get a handle on one, moving to another is that much easier. As I found last semester, the integration between After Effects and the other graphic apps in CS3 (like Illustrator) is seamless and very powerful. I seriously recommend checking this link out, it really should spark some ideas.
