Performance Art?

Wow. Cool video. IMO definitely not shock value. That sort of thing takes training and talent. I liked the painting better before he put all the color splots along the edges. But I think the idea of painting like this in front of a crowd is pretty captivating. It's performative and entertaining. But is it what we would call performance art? Or simply painting a painting in front a crowd? Good question. Maybe both answers are right. The jury is still out. What do you all think?

it looks like there are a couple guys out there doing this kind of thing... all on the black canvases. sometimes it is quite an act, very much like dancing. pretty cool. it makes me think of those old time entertainers, vaudeville, who would do ventriloquism or magic or a comedic song and dance. very cool.

I think if he'd never turned to the crowd or exaggerated any movements...then this would be just a guy doing a painting in front of a crowd. The accuracy at such a speed is the unique is what makes it unique performance art for sure. I don't think it's shocking though at all.
