Lady Gaga is a performer to the core. As weird as her stuff is, I love it because I feel like she is trying to have a depth to her works, versus other pop culture icons - like Brittany Spears, Jessica Simpson, etc - who simply create mass-culture songs/videos. To go along with the post about the women who turn into half men half women when they dance, there is something to be said about those icons exploiting themselves and their bodies, versus Lady Gaga's will to create something more
Ok, but please explain in some actual detail why or how there is more depth in Lady Gaga's work than in Brittany Spears or Miley Cyrus. What is Lady Gaga's will to create something more? You state it but you don't explain how she achieves this. Are you sure she's not just a different package of mass culture, one that you find more appetizing but is in fact no more or less depthy or better than other pop star counterparts? This song "bad romance" sounds pretty mass culture to me. Not that I'm disagreeing with you, but please say more to back up your claim.
