It's So Cold In The D

There's not a lot of artistic value to this video, but the more I think about "It's So Cold In The D" I can't help but think about how smart it is. In my politics course we are talking about globalization and the use of technology in order to get your voice heard and have people understand your cause; the use of technology as a vessel of knowledge. In terms of this video, I think it is very clear that the use of technology is implored in order for other people to understand Detroit's condition and how it's affecting the people who live there.

Sometimes I wonder if this movie is really this horrible and if it could have been helped. But if it could have been made better, it wouldn't fit their message of the fact that Detroit, and effectively the state of Michigan, is falling apart.

I don;t think this movie is horrible, though lots of people probably think it's so bad that it's good. Before you even judge it qualitatively, you should ask yourself: is it it effective? The answer is yes. If it's effective, than it probably has something at the soul of it which is driving it. This piece has tremendous character and originality. It's very powerful and I think the fact that it's extremely lo-fi and simple lends it a kind of purity that we don;t see enough.

I would agree with everything said before. The video effectively conveys its message, but at the same time... It doesn't hold my attention for very long, and I find it hard to keep watching
