Why is it that National Geographic photographs are always 8 billion times better than anything I could do? What makes an amazing photo?

they are lovely and they are shown all around the world now in gallery exhibits like the smithsonian! its like the new age ansel adams (maybe not quite so perfect, but as close as you can get to that sort of genius)
