Amateur - Lasse Gjertsen
My friend Blake showed this to me last semester and it blew me away! Apparently him and Lasse have been in contact for some time sharing their music with one another and I guess this video actually got Lasse kicked out of the art school he was attending when he made it...not sure if its a true story or not but funny nonetheless.
The artist calls his editing style "hyperactive" which I think is pretty fitting. I don't know if this is a term he came up with or something other video artists are thinking about as well but very very creative and opens up new possibilities (i.e. appearing to play a song when you can't play the instrument) for artists.

I have this video bookmarked on my computer. I love it so much. it is incredible the talent and patience he must have for editing. What I thought was interesting was that he says he cant play the piano or drums, but he creates these amazing pieces from little clips of himself playing around. It is amazing what you can do.
I don't know if this was the first, but there are many of these videos now on youtube. This is particularly well done, though, especially in the moments/clips where Lasse drops his drumstick.
If that video got someone kicked out of art school, than I have no idea what is going on in the world and I urge no one to go to art school....but please do make videos like this! Also, to expand on Tyler's comment, the only "hyperactive" video which is truly important is the first one made by the first person that thought of the idea. The rest are just like Jackson Pollock paintings done by people that aren't Jackson Pollock. They're not special.
What a fascinating piece. At first I thought it was a joke, but then it picked up and the tune wasn't half bad. The editing is quite remarkable. Bad hairdo, though.
Btw, here is a fun design prompt to try around randomness.
I want to know if this is the first- because it is the first "hyperactive" video I have seen, or at least to this caliber, and thus making it a jackson pollock to me. But is it the first? Or am I just excited by the brilliance of this clip?
