A new Glenn Beck meme has sprung up, and he is not happy about it. The controversy is over the site www.glennbeckrapedandmurderedayounggirlin1990.com. The site and supposed crime are completely fictitious, and the site has a disclaimer at the top that admits the site is a parody. Due to slander and legal issues it would be very difficult to execute a concept like this in a truly deadpan manner, but the site made me think how it would be cool to come up with a (much less offensive, but just as provocative) celebrity driven site. The power of rumor and gossip surrounding a celebrity (especially one who is currently relevant due to the Van Jones controversy) makes for instant viral attention. Just a thought.
